Dawn of the Personalization Era

Segmentation is not a new concept but a traditional and one of the easiest ways to target customers. Age old ‘gut feeling’ evolved when statisticians started segregating Customers into groups based on multiple dimensions, creating what was formally known as ‘Micro-segmentation’. With any plain vanilla offer, we have observed a response rate of 1.46%, which increases to 2.58% when activities are personalized and sent to the right customers. Response rate can also go up to 25% based on the number of micro-segments, segment characteristics and design of offers to that particular segment. Usually, running micro-segmented life cycle based campaigns along with Loyalty Rewards can increase top line sales by 5 to 10%. Simply put, it is all about “Right offer to the Right Customer @ the Right Time”.

Micro-segmentation also helps the Retailer identify the right offer from a pool of offers and personalize them on a per-customer needs. Moreover, it increases customer retention with a visible rise in repeat business. When done correctly, micro-segmentation can within a short period of time, increase brand loyalty manifold and truly bringing the Retailer to the next stage of retail evolution – The Personalization Era.
